Boone County Government to transition to new website domain

The Boone County Government will launch to its new website domain, www.boonemo.gov, Thursday and will continue to transition all county offices to the site through May 2026.

Residents are encouraged to update bookmarks, email contacts and saved links by Thursday to help minimize lost information.

The launch of the new domain will start with the Assessor’s Office, according to a Boone County Government news release. All county email addresses will be switched to a .gov format on Thursday.

As the transition to the new domain takes place, automatic redirects have been set up across county websites. All content previously on showmeboone.comboonecountymo.org and boonemo.org will be redirected to the new domain. If users attempt to use the previous URLs, they will be automatically directed to the new site.

The Boone County Government’s transition to a .gov domain is meant to help residents easily recognize its website as a trustworthy source for county news and services, presiding commissioner Kip Kendrick said in the news release. Throughout the U.S., .gov domains are reserved for local and federal government entities.

“Our transition to a .gov domain is a major step toward reinforcing public confidence in our digital services,” Kendrick said. “It assures the public that they are accessing secure information directly from their local government.”
