GoDaddy launches high-end domain marketplace at DomainNames.com

New marketplace focuses on one word domains.

GoDaddy today launched DomainNames.com, a marketplace focusing on what it calls “ultra-premium” domain names.

It’s one of the few marketplaces to use that description that actively delivers: the domains are single-word .com, single-word .ai, and short numeric domains. The site is designed for domains worth at least six figures.

Current listings include harmony.com, marketplace.com, natural.com, assign.com, and compel.com.

At launch, the site has just over 100 domain names. Each one features a logo and customized landing page.

Domain sellers have to apply to have their domains listed on the site.

Listings require an exclusive agreement. In response to a Domain Name Wire inquiry, the company said the duration of the exclusivity is negotiable. Commissions also vary by domain name, but are in line with Afternic’s existing commission structure.

DomainNames.com isn’t just a passive marketplace. GoDaddy will market the domains across social and digital channels, and there will be “proactive outreach” to potential buyers when appropriate.

The story behind the domain DomainNames.com is a bit interesting. Frank Schilling bought it for $370,000 at NamesCon in 2019. He later sold his Uniregistry business and domain portfolio to GoDaddy.
