It’s a bit confusing for domains registered elsewhere, but the price is right.
I recently had a domain buyer request to use a Dynadot Pay Link to purchase a domain name.
Like other domain platforms, Dynadot offers a service that lets you complete a domain transaction that is negotiated elsewhere. It charges a 5% fee and offers a 2% bonus if you subsequently convert your funds to store credit.
I found the process of creating a Pay Link a bit confusing for a domain registered elsewhere, so this tutorial will guide you through the process.
Step 1: Add external domain to account.
Click “Manage Domains” in the left-hand column, then click on “Other Registrar” at the top:

Click the Add Domains button to the right, enter your domain, and click the submission button.
Next, you’ll need to verify ownership of the domain using a TXT or CNAME record, or by changing the nameservers.
Step 2: Add domain to marketplace
Now, you’ll need to create a marketplace listing. You do this while you’re still in the Manage Domains tab.
Check the box next to the name, select the Bulk Action drop-down, and choose Sell Domain:

Step 3: Create Pay Link
Now that your domain is listed in the marketplace, you can create your link to send to the buyer.
Select Aftermarket and then My Marketplace Listings in the left-hand column. Then click the Dynadot Pay Link button at the top of the page.
This opens a form to create your link:

This is fairly self-explanatory. Select the domain from the drop-down and put in your price. You can set a Link Expiration timeframe or enable installments, too.
Step 4: Transfer the Domain
Once the domain sells, you’ll need to transfer it to Dynadot. Again, a bit confusing here, because you don’t go to the Aftermarket section to do it.
Instead, go back to Manage Domains and the Other Registrar tab. There, you’ll click the Transfer button and enter the authorization code:

Now that I understand the process, it will be easy next time. But it wasn’t exactly intuitive.
Dynadot’s low fee for Pay Links, combined with the 2% bonus for converting to store credit, makes it an appealing option. They also offer a wide variety of payout options, including cryptocurrency.
