Complicating matters, the domain was subsequently sold in an expired domain auction on NameJet.
A Florida man has sued GoDaddy (pdf), claiming that a domain name was stolen from his GoDaddy account in 2019 and the registrar failed to take sufficient action to recover it.
Arthur “Brud” Porcher, a pro se litigant, claims that the domain brud .com was stolen from him in 2019 and transferred to another registrar.
He said he did several things to try to get it back, and that his lawsuit was delayed over five years because of a number of health issues.
His first attempt to regain the domain, aside from working with GoDaddy, was in 2023. He claims to have filed a UDRP “with ICANN” January 2024 “which was denied based on timing”. I can’t find a record of that case.
However, if the domain was stolen as Porcher alleges, the thief no longer owns it. The domain was auctioned in an expired domain auction on NameJet in 2021 for $9,336.
The domain was subsequently transferred back to GoDaddy by its current registrant. It currently resolves to a page with a “contact owner” link.
