Company now predicts return to annual growth in domain base.
Verisign (VRSN), the registry for .com and .net domain names, announced Q2 earnings after the market closed today.
Q2 revenue was $410 million, up 5.9 percent from the same quarter in 2024.
The company processed 10.4 million new registrations across the two top level domains during the quarter. After accounting for deletions, the total domain base increased by 0.66 million to 170.5 million. However, it was down slightly year-over-year.
The rate of growth decreased a bit from Q1, when the company added 0.78 million domains.
All of the growth came from .com; the base of .net domains remained at 12.6 million domains.
Verisign increased guidance. It now expects to grow the total domain base between +1.2% to +2.0% this year, compared to its prior guidance of -0.7% to +0.9%. It also increased revenue and operating profit guidance.
Additionally, the company announced a second consecutive quarterly dividend and more share buybacks.
