Malaysian shopping rewards business sues, says its domains were stolen

Company sues after failing to regain control of domain names after theft.

Treasure Global Inc., a Malaysian technology company, has filed a lawsuit after two of its domain names were stolen.

The lawsuit states that its domain treasureglobal .co and zcity .io were stolen from its Namecheap account in May.

Indeed, if you visit either of the domains today, the domains forward to a page with the notice pictured above. Interestingly, the notice is on a site that states it’s a fake ransom notice people can use to scare people.

Zcity is a rewards and cashback app for consumers and businesses in Malaysia.

The company stated that it has attempted to regain control of the domain names through Namecheap but has been unsuccessful. According to Whois records, both domains are still at the registrar.

Its lawsuit (PDF) names Namecheap, its Whois privacy service, and a John Doe.
