City of Marshfield moves to .gov website for better security. Here’s what you need to know

MARSHFIELD − The city of Marshfield is launching a new website domain, cityofmarshfieldwi.gov, on Oct. 29.

The change aims to enhance security, improve accessibility and ensure residents can easily identify legitimate communications from the city, according to a community announcement.

The “.gov” designation is reserved exclusively for verified government entities, providing an added layer of trust and authenticity.

“Our goal is to make it easier and safer for residents to connect with City services online,” said Communications Director Tom Loucks. “Moving to a .gov domain reinforces our commitment to transparency, cybersecurity, and modern digital communication.”

What residents need to know

Residents are encouraged to use the new address starting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and update any saved bookmarks or links. City staff email addresses will not change at this time, so the city will continue to use the ci.marshfield.wi.us domain for email communications.

Any attempt to access the previous domain will be redirected to help users transition smoothly.
