Company now offers real domain names alongside blockchain names.

Web3 naming platform Freename is now offering real domain names as an ICANN-accredited domain name registrar.
The company launched by offering only web3 solutions, including a naming platform that allowed people to create their own blockchain-based top level domain.
Earlier this year, it raised a $6.5 million funding round, became an ICANN-accredited registrar, and promised to marry the traditional DNS with web3 technology.
With the launch of its accredited registrar, it promises customers that they can use their new domain names in traditional ways (e.g., websites and email) and get web3 features, such as using them for wallet addresses.
When users search for a domain, they are given the option to register it in .com or other TLD, register it as a web3 top level domain, or register it as a second-level top level domain under existing Freename extensions.
