Thorn in Namecheap’s side loses another cybersquatting case

It’s the second time Namecheap has filed a UDRP against the same man.

Namecheap has won (pdf) a second cybersquatting case against a man in Germany who has registered domains including the Namecheap brand.

The large domain name registrar filed the case against Agit Kaya, who registered the domain namecheap .auction.

Kaya made a somewhat spirited effort to make it appear he had legitimate plans for the domain, as you can see in the image above. Namecheap .auction would purportedly offer you to “buy cheap names at an auction”. The copyright notice states “never-2025” and “no rights reserved”, which makes me think it was somewhat of a parody.

In case you were going to give any benefit of the doubt to Kaya, you should know that he registered this domain after losing a UDRP namecheap .domains (pdf) last year. In that case, he said he was working on a site to educate users about affordable domain registration options. Namecheap .domains currently resolves to a Namecheap parking page stating the domain has expired.
