Company files with SEC to sell large portion of its holdings of .com registry.
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has filed to sell about 1/3 of its holdings in .com/.net registry Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN).
The company currently owns 14.2% of common shares of the company. It could sell between 4.3 million to 4.8 million shares. If it sells all 4.8 million shares, it will own 9.6% of the company.
The sales would bring Berkshire below the 10% threshold, where Section 16 regulations apply. The company will still be required to make filings for owning more than 5% of the stock.
Shares in Verisign are down 6% in after-hours trading. Shares hit a 52-week high during the trading day.
